Africa-Press – Angola. An average of 900 tons of corn and cassava flour are produced monthly at the Liu Jianguang factory, located south of the city of Luena, Moxico province.

The aforementioned factory, belonging to a Chinese trading and service company, has been operating since November 2021, with a workforce of up to 12 workers.

In that factory, visited this Monday by the governor of Moxico, Ernesto Muangala, corn and cassava supplied by cooperatives and private farmers, through a signed contract, are transformed into flour.

According to the manager of the aforementioned manufacturing unit, Liu Jianguang, the greatest difficulty faced in the enterprise is related to the scarcity of raw materials (corn and cassava), stating that the quantity supplied by the partners is negligible, judging by the production capacity of the company. factory.

“The company has stopped for a period of time due to a lack of raw materials,” he said.

To reverse this situation, he said that the company plans to invest in the production of rice, corn, soybeans and wheat next year (2024), with a view to supporting the factory.

The lack of electricity from the public network, he said, is another problem the factory faces, especially when there is a shortage of fuel in the province.

The factory currently consumes around nine thousand liters of diesel monthly, an amount that it considers “very high”, taking into account that the project is in an embryonic phase.

The provinces of Bié, Lunda Sul, Lunda Norte and Luanda are the main destinations for products from this factory.

At another time, Governor Ernesto Muangala discovered the EC Oliveira water factory, located on the outskirts of Luena.

At the time, the unit’s manager, Adriano Samacaca, said that around 235 liters of water are produced daily at that factory, provided by 25 workers.

The person in charge also lamented the lack of electricity from the public network, having requested support from the Provincial Government to resolve this problem.

In turn, the provincial governor said that he has already instructed companies operating in the electrical sector, mainly ENDE, to carry out a survey, with a view to implementing a Transformation Station in the area, to benefit the factory and the population residing in the district.
