Africa-Press – Angola. Twenty-four million 669 thousand kwanzas were collected, in 2022, in the province of Huambo, by Correios de Angola, through the reception and sending services of private and institutional parcels, press learned this Monday.

The information was provided by the director of the institution, which covers the provinces of Bié, Cuando Cubango, Cuanza Sul and Huambo (headquarters), Jorge Baião, noting that, in 2021, 20 million, 687 thousand and 685 Kwanzas had been collected.

According to the official, the increase in revenue is mainly due to the reopening of services provided by Correios de Angola, two years after the suspension due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

He explained that of the amount collected, three million, 867 thousand 131 Kwanzas resulted from the rental of mailboxes, both by public and private institutions, as well as by individual citizens, while international orders reached 1 million 491 thousand 269 Kwanzas.

He added that the international postal services allowed the receipt of 432 thousand and 46 Kwanzas.

Jorge Baião informed that in the services provided, mainly in mailboxes, public and private customers in the Center-South region of the country contracted a debt of four million Kwanzas, which has conditioned the implementation of several projects.

He said that the biggest debtors are in the province of Huambo, with three million Kwanzas, while the Bié, Cuando Cubango and Cuanza Sul distribute about one million.

To this end, he said that pedagogical work was being carried out with customers for debt payment, as it is a service with a lot of competition, which could condition, in the event of suspension of the contract, the online purchases of applicants.

The official recalled that the province of Huambo has installations in the municipalities of Bailundo, Caála, Huambo (headquarters) and Ucuma in good infrastructural conditions, carrying out personalized courier services, national and international express, cargo and logistics, among others, at the service of institutions and citizens.

As perspectives for this year, Jorge Baião pointed out the development of actions aimed at caring for business and individual customers, to reduce complaints about the services provided, in addition to partnerships with financial companies in banking correspondent services, to increase local revenues .

He also indicated the prospect of reinforcing more vehicles and motorcycles for courier services and for the transport of agricultural products in various locations in the Center-South region of the country, as well as the dissemination of the virtual and physical services provided, to increase the more than 900 annual requests received by the company.

Created on the 7th of December 1797, the Correios de Angola provide various types of services, including traditional ones, namely normal, blue, registered, business and postal mail, while the conventional ones are PO Boxes, circulation tax, internet, fax, scanning and sale of various refills.
