Africa-Press – Angola. The Secretary of State for Civil and Maritime Assessment, Emílio Londa, considered corruption Thursday, in Luanda, as an evil that reduces the levels of resources available for the Government to execute the country’s development policies.
The person responsible made this statement at the conference under the motto “Corruption and concrete infractions”, in a promotion of the Port of Luanda, considering it one of the biggest risks that threaten the country’s development process and whose combat must be one of the priorities for implementing the State. Emílio Londa said that corruption distorts incentives for excellent performance and breaks down the meritocratic system.
“The fight against corruption must be a priority for the State,” he explained. In this sense, he said that the country can progress by combating the levels in every sense. According to Emílio Londa, the port presents in its manual a set of rules and procedures so that everything that involves operational, financial, control and strategy actions within companies follows previously written rules.
Within companies, he said, in the processes of control bodies and monitoring of audit areas, an attempt is made to establish in all companies a way of ensuring that corruption can be combatted and prevented within the company itself. He made it known that in cases of failure of mechanisms, they must use the support of various bodies such as IGAE, PGR, and any other body.
In turn, the president of the board of directors of the Luanda port company, Alberto Bengue, said that this conference was created to develop actions with transparency, detection, repression of corruption, as well as disciplining the behavior of port workers, through the promotion of ethics and transparency.
Alberto Bengue reinforced that measures to combat corruption must promote the involvement of the entire community. To this end, he said that internally the intention is to involve all employees at the Port of Luanda in preventing corruption and disciplining worker behavior, promoting ethics and transparency.
The event aimed to promote the involvement of workers at the port of Luanda in preventing, detecting and reprimanding corruption, improving knowledge, training, institutional practices in terms of transparency and integrity.
