According to the Organic Law on General Elections, it is incumbent upon the President of the Republic to convene and set the date for the general elections, after hearing the National Electoral Commission and the Council of the Republic.
The Head of State, João Lourenço, announced last week that he would call the general elections, scheduled for the month of August, after the meeting of the Council of the Republic.
