Country fair marks Ambriz's 168th anniversary festivities

Africa-Press – Angola. The holding of a fair of products from the countryside and the sea marked the celebration of the 168th anniversary of the municipality of Ambriz, which will be celebrated this Friday, May 5th.

At the fair, in which 52 exhibitors participate, including fishing cooperatives, individual farmers and members of cooperatives, the production carried out in this territory of Bengo province will be on display for two days.

On the occasion, the vice-governor for the economic, political and social sector, José Bartolomeu Pedro, referred that the fair is an opportunity for local producers to show their potential and establish contacts for the commercialization of their products, whether agricultural or from the sea.

The minister recommended that farmers in Ambriz increase the production area and diversify the products grown, with a view to improving the diet and selling the surplus.

Under the motto “Ambriz produce towards the progress and well-being of the community”, the fair also has the participation of the health services, which are carrying out various services, the General Tax Administration and the National Institute of Social Security which is organizing carry out proof of life for the assisted.

The program for the celebrations of the 168th anniversary of the municipality of Ambriz reserves sports, cultural, ecumenical and social activities.

With a territorial extension of 4,203 square kilometres, the municipality of Ambriz has three communes (Tabi, Bela Vista and Ambriz headquarters).

The municipality of Ambriz was founded in 1855, during which time the locality became the District Council of Luanda. It was elevated to the category of municipality in 1980.
