Africa-Press – Angola. The Viana District Court will hold the second hearing of the adversarial investigation phase of case No. 2378/25-MoPo, known as the “AGT case,” next Tuesday (23). This case involves 38 defendants, including six companies, accused of defrauding the state coffers of more than 100 billion kwanzas.

At this hearing, the President and directors of the General Tax Administration (AGT), the National Director of the Treasury, and the Director of the Public Debt Unit will testify as witnesses, at the defendants’ request.

With these statements, the case could proceed in three ways: maintaining the charges filed by the Public Prosecutor’s Office, weakening the prosecution by not indicting certain crimes, or opening new cases with the consequent listing of more defendants.

The adversarial investigation, requested by some of the defendants, aims to challenge elements of the accusation and is being conducted behind closed doors, under judicial secrecy, and is restricted to the parties involved in the proceedings.

Despite this, the Luanda District Court, responsible for conducting the proceedings, although the sessions will take place at the Viana Court, will appoint a spokesperson to provide information of public interest.
