Cuba’s new ambassador to Angola, Oscar León Gonzalez, presented, yesterday, in Luanda, the Figurative Letters to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António, in a ceremony held at the headquarters of Angolan diplomacy. During the meeting, Oscar León Gonzalez expressed his commitment to further strengthening political and diplomatic ties with Angola, in order to consolidate the historic friendship that unites the two countries.
Political-diplomatic relations between Angola and Cuba were established on November 15, 1975 and are based on friendship and solidarity between the two peoples.
In 1976, Angola and Cuba signed the General Bilateral Cooperation Agreement, which covers several sectors, having, over the years, evolved according to the historical-international context and the interests of both parties. Institutional cooperation between the two countries is characterized by the Cuban presence in almost all sectors of economic and social activity in Angola, since the 70s and 80s, having substantially decreased since 1990, with the exception of the Education sectors. and Health, now having a strong expression in the business sector.
Oscar León Gonzalez, a career official with a distinguished record of diplomatic service, has held important roles in international missions.
