Cultural soirée brings together administration and citizens of Sambizanga

Africa-Press – Angola. The São Paulo market, in the urban district of Sambizanga, in Luanda, hosted this Saturday the first edition of the cultural soirée, with the aim of strengthening relations between local authorities and citizens.

The event, which brought together the musicians Lulas da Paixão, Selda, Gari Sinedima, Kark Sumba, Fernando Jessy and the poet Universo Mavambo, moved the artistic and cultural scene in the district, with a positive participation of the citizens.

The moment also served for a dialogue between the administrator of the urban district of Sambizanga, Orlando Paca, the surrounding residents and local salespeople, who flocked to the formal market in São Paulo, within the scope of the implementation of the Trade Reorganization Plan in the province of Luanda .

According to administrator Orlando Paca, the event will be held fortnightly and will combine music, gastronomy and handicraft exhibition.

He also referred that the activity demonstrates the gains with the reorganization of commerce in the province, considering that the action does not appear as a way to fight street sales, but as a measure to end the disorderly sale on sidewalks and roads, avoiding accidents and congestion at various points in the capital.

“We want residents, vendors and customers to have a space where they can socialize fortnightly”, he said.

The place, which previously served as a disorderly street vendor area, today brings together the cultural movement, making it a pleasant space for lovers of good music.

For the citizen Paulo Augusto, it was a good initiative on the part of the administration to give life to a previously underused space.

“We were able to stop and watch a moment of live music, it was very beneficial”, he said.

For the singer Selda, the initiative of the Sambizanga district administration is positive, since culture manages to help in the moralization of society.

In this context, the young artist appealed to all street vendors to comply with the regulations imposed by the provincial government, taking into account the risk they run when selling in inappropriate places.
