Africa-Press – Angola. The Provincial Office of Culture, Tourism, Youth and Sports of Lunda-Sul has been encouraging, since last February, community theater to convey messages of recovery of moral values, protection of public assets, among others.

The information was provided this Wednesday,by the director of Culture, Nelson Muiuca, as part of the celebrations of World Theater Day (27 March), having stated that the groups, in addition to entertaining families with humor, disseminate all the actions that the Executive has been carrying out in the region and in the country in general.

He highlighted that the cultural plan also includes training young people in theater, supporting initiatives in this art, exchanging experiences with renowned actors, to galvanize performing art in Lunda-Sul.

Asked about the problem of the lack of infrastructure for artists to develop activities, he said that the municipality will soon gain an equipped center attached to the Clube Desportivo da Lunda-Sul, which will add spaces for young people to stage their plays and other creativity.

In fact, he recognized the lack of excellent rooms, the improvised ones (Cine Chicapa and Mediateca) have been used for some groups to present their work.

Nelson Muiuca stated, on the other hand, that theater has a great importance in the lives of many families, it helps to improve a person’s self-esteem, moralizes and educates and through humor, it awakens some negative actions that can be improved, for the good common.

It is worth remembering that Lunda-Sul is represented in Huambo at the National Theater Day (Artpenthu and Colectivo do Chicapa), in the province of Huambo, which will take place from the 27th to the 30th of this month.

The provincial Office of Culture, Tourism, Youth and Sports controls 16 theater groups, of which five are active.

World Theater Day, celebrated on March 27th, was created by the International Theater Institute in 1961 in Paris (France).

Theater is an ancient art and since ancient times it has been used as a way of expressing and disseminating the culture of people, it had its origins in Greece.
