Culture wants a more representative national parade

Africa-Press – Angola. The provincial responsible for Culture, Tourism, Youth and Sports, Rosa Carlos, advocated, this Wednesday, in Ndalatando, the holding of the most representative national carnival parade, with the participation of groups from the country’s 18 provinces.

According to the official, Luanda, as one of the country’s 18 provinces, should hold a provincial parade and the winners or the winner compete with representatives of others at national level.

It suggests that Luanda, as host, can compete in the national parade with more than one group, but the other provinces must also be represented.

Rosa Carlos proposes that it be done at carnival as it happens in national sports championships, which have teams from all provinces competing.

The head of Culture made these statements regarding the holding of the 2023 carnival edition, scheduled for the 19th and 21st of this month.

Five carnival groups and six entertainment blocks are registered for the provincial carnival parade, in the province of Cuanza Norte, which takes place on the 21st, in Ndalatando (provincial capital).

The groups with confirmed participation are the top five in the 2020 edition – União Chá de Caxinde (municipality of Cazengo), Kuditemo (Samba Cajú), Estrelas de Cacesse (Cambambe), Cruzeiro (Golungo Alto) and União dos Camponeses (Cazengo) .

The animation blocks Turma dos Kotas, 4 de Fevereiro, VCBC, Colectivo de Arte Twa Sanguluka (We’re Happy), Desportivo do Bairro 11 de Novembro and Escagalhadora will also participate in Entrudo.

In addition to these, the provincial parade will feature 9 groups from the municipal stages, with the exception of the municipality of Bolongongo, which will not hold the carnival for financial reasons. Some municipalities may be represented by more than one group.

For prizes, the organization has available 600 thousand for the winning group, 500 thousand for the second and 400 thousand for the third, as well as participation prizes for other competitors.

The organization looks forward to sponsorship from the business class to raise the value of the prizes.

The União Chá de Caxinde group will be honored in this 2023 edition, in the country’s capital (Luanda).

União Chá de Caxinde represented the province in 2021 and 2022, when carnival had an interregnum, due to the restrictions imposed by the Government to end the COVID pandemic. In 2021, there was a symbolic parade at Cine Ndalatando and in 2022, the group paraded through the city of Ndalatando.
