Africa-Press – Angola. The Cutato commune needs close to 45 new classrooms, to accommodate about 2,000 children who are out of the education system, its administrator revealed this Saturday.

Pedro Ndala said that the rooms should be built in Malengue, Ntumbole, Kanhongo, Chuco, Chizimo-Ndivisso, Tome and Muquenque.

At the moment, more than four thousand students enrolled in the current academic year at different levels of education, in the commune, which is 66 kilometers from the municipal seat of Cuchi, in the province of Cuando Cubango, are studying in rubble, under trees and in the open, for lack of schools.

In addition to classrooms, the commune needs 70 new teachers for primary, secondary and pre-school education, highlighted Pedro Ndala, at a time when the region has only 60 teaching agents.

As for Health, he informed that the commune has four health units, of which a health center and a health post, located in the municipal seat of Cutato, and two posts in the localities of Malengue and Chilanda-Ngombe, respectively.

The communal administrator pointed out malaria, diarrheal and acute respiratory diseases, urinary infections, typhoid fever, gastritis and tuberculosis as the main pathologies that afflict the communities.

He said that the sector needs three doctors to help in the areas of general practice, pediatrics and obstetrics. Currently, services are provided by only 14 nurses.

The commune needs another 20 nurses to help the populations of Chiengo, Malengue, Chilanda-Ngombe, in addition to eight health posts, with residences for professionals, and two ambulances.

Regarding agriculture, the administrator of Cutato expressed his dissatisfaction with the late distribution of various seeds in the current agricultural season, which contributed to the low production.

Pedro Ndala requested the recovery of the Chilandangombe Agricultural Pole, which is abandoned. “We ask the Government to appoint a new official for this institution, with a view to boosting productive activity in the region and ending hunger”.

With regard to the distribution of drinking water, he informed that 4,757 people from different localities consume inappropriate water, taken directly from rivers and waterholes, since the vandalism of the supply system and 14 fountains.
