Africa-Press – Angola. The municipal administrator of Cuvango, Luís Marcelo, defended this Wednesday the need to promote greater quality, responsibility and compliance with deadlines in the execution of public works, within the framework of the current year’s participatory budget.
The municipal manager made the demand to businesspeople during a meeting with the Municipality’s Budget Management Technical Committee in Cuvango, due to some projects from the previous year not yet delivered, as well as the observance of a certain lack of quality in some works.
He stated that participatory budget projects are carried out by local companies, but some do not have the desired quality of workforce, whose human capital leaves something to be desired and is also reflected in the final product, which is why it is necessary for them to resort to qualified staff.
“In this year’s economic year, dedicated mainly to the acquisition of equipment and maintenance, it is necessary for contractors to look at these assumptions, so that the goods have greater durability”, he warned.
He highlighted that the actions of the projects implemented at municipal level have a positive impact on the life of the local community, therefore, companies are called to be more serious in pursuing them, complying with the assumptions of the specifications.
The Municipal Budget Management Technical Committee in Cuvango, during the 2022 financial year, prepared 11 projects that were implemented, benefiting more than 74 thousand inhabitants of the municipality.
The initiatives include the rehabilitation of bridges, multipurpose fields, rehabilitation and lighting of the park, delivery of cleaning and basic sanitation materials and food baskets to vulnerable families, some of which are still ongoing and yet to be completed.
The Municipal Participatory Budget is annual, valued at 25 million kwanzas and for the current year it is expected to materialize at least six projects aimed at purchasing equipment and maintaining structures.
The municipality of Cuvango is 356 kilometers east of Lubango, capital of the province of Huíla and has an estimated population of 103 thousand 262 inhabitants.
