Africa-Press – Angola. The second edition of the National Police Grand Prix (47 Years) will take place from today, Saturday, in the province of Benguela, with the participation of 35 athletes from the provinces of Luanda, Huíla and the hostess.
According to the race director and general secretary of the Provincial Cycling Association of Benguela, Olegário Correia, the GP will feature a long distance race of 110 kilometres, on the Benguela/Dombe-Grande/Benguela route, and a closed circuit race, on the edge of Praia Morena.
The official informed that the race will count on the participation of teams from Escola Pepino, Jair Transportes (JT300) and 2 Rodas, all from Benguela, Kambas da Bicicleta, Kilamba (Luanda), and UCL from Huíla.
Athletes will compete in the cadet, junior, under-23, elite masters 30, 40 and 50 categories, respectively.
Guaranteed. on the other hand, all the technical conditions for police, medical and accommodation for the teams have been created so that the race runs smoothly.
Asked about the possible internationalization of this Grand Prix, Olegário Correia said that it is a matter that is being dealt with by the Association and whose proposal should be sent to the Provincial Command of the National Police.
“The PN has done a lot for the massification of cycling and sport in general and we hope that in the next editions we will be able to invite athletes from neighboring countries such as Namibia, DRC and South Africa”, he said.
As for the prizes, cups and medals will be awarded in the various categories.
The official took the opportunity to invite all people from Benguela to join the celebration of the 47th anniversary of the National Police, an entity responsible for ensuring the safety and tranquility of citizens.
The first edition of this Grand Prix was held between the 26th and 27th of February 2022 and the great winner was cyclist Igor Silva, from Jair Transportes.
