Africa-Press – Angola. The coordinator of the group of deputies residing in Lunda Sul, Monday Unganji, pointed out, this Friday, the strengthening of the supply of drinking water and electricity to the population as priority actions for the economic development of the district.

The parliamentarians visited today the provincial office of Technical Services and Infrastructures, construction works of the new water supply system of Saurimo, water distribution center of Luari, Prodel facilities and the Photovoltaic Power Station.

According to the parliamentarian, who was speaking to the press, at the end of the visits, the provincial nucleus of the National Assembly in Lunda Sul intends to work in partnership with the local Government in solving the various problems that afflict the population of the region.

He affirmed that without these basic services there is no development of a certain locality.

Taking into account the available resources and the territorial extension, Second Unganji suggested a gradual solution to the problems defined as priorities.

The infrastructure to reinforce the collection capacity of the Saurimo water system and the construction of the pipeline, which is under construction, will provide more than 131,000 people with access to drinking water.

The Photovoltaic Plant is being built in an area of ​​65 hectares, around the city of Saurimo. The solar park will provide 26 megawatts of clean energy, produced by 44,850 solar panels and 8,738 transmission lines, which should benefit 49,000 citizens.

With a physical completion of 61 percent, the deadline for construction of the infrastructure is scheduled for May 2024.

Currently, with more than 20,000 controlled customers, 335 of which are part of the prepaid system, ENDE in Lunda Sul has 40 megawatts of energy available.
