Africa-Press – Angola. The deputies from the Huambo constituency recommended, this Monday, greater attention by the Government to the sectors of health, agriculture and access roads, during the 2023 financial year.

Speaking to the press, after a meeting with the governor of Huambo province, Lotti Nolika, deputy Adérito Chimuco, from the MPLA Parliamentary Bench, said that the government should do everything to increase the number of technicians in health units and make more medicines available to them.

He said it was necessary to permanently distribute fertilizers and other agricultural inputs to peasants, with a view to increasing production levels and, with this, contributing to actions to fight poverty and to economic diversification.

The parliamentarian also hopes that special attention will be given to the recovery of access roads, both primary, secondary and tertiary, as well as the construction of bridges, to make the movement of people and goods more fluid and safe.

Adérito Chimuco recalled that many bridges, especially those built along the access roads to agricultural production fields, are in an advanced state of degradation, as a result of the heavy rains in this region of the Central Plateau of Angola.

Without detailing the budget share for Huambo, he said that, despite the economic difficulties, the deputies consider the amount to be earmarked insufficient, as it is the fourth most populous region in the country, after Luanda, Huíla and Benguela, with more than two million 700 thousand inhabitants.

To this end, Adérito Chimuco called for permanent consultation between the deputies of the local Electoral Circle and the Government of Huambo, in order to seek mechanisms to solve the problems that are worrying the population.

Deputy Monteiro Eliseu, from the UNITA Parliamentary Bench, ensured permanent interaction with the Government of Huambo to defend the interests of the population, with a focus on promoting common well-being.

He said that it is the mission of deputies to advocate for an increase in the annual budgets made available to the population, mainly those aimed at building infrastructure capable of impacting the well-being of families.

The proposal for the General State Budget (OGE) drawn up by the provincial government of Huambo, referring to the economic year 2023, foresees expenses in the order of 130 billion, 728 million, 764 thousand and 59 Kwanzas.

With a territorial extension of 35,771 square kilometers and a population density of over two million,700,000 inhabitants, the province of Huambo is administratively composed of 11 municipalities, 37 communes and 3,387 villages.
