Africa-Press – Angola. The deputies of the National Assembly will, on the 14th of this month, discuss and vote, in general terms, on the Proposal that changes the Code of Value Added Tax (VAT) on foodstuffs from 14 to seven (7) per cent.
The decision came out, this Monday, at the end of the Conference of the Presidents of the Parliamentary Groups, which defined the agenda of the 8th Ordinary Plenary Meeting of the 1st Legislative Session of the V Legislature.
The Legislative initiative of the President of the Republic, as holder of the Executive Power, aims to adapt it to the current context of the country in the economic and social aspects to the economic and financial challenges faced by families and companies.
The diploma aims, among others, to reduce the VAT incidence rate on all foodstuffs from 14% to 7%, with the exception of the province of Cabinda, which will now have a single VAT incidence rate of around 1% , taking into account the Special Regime in force in that region.
Statutes of Former Presidents
On the 14th of August, the Plenary of the National Assembly will also hold a final global vote on the Draft Law on the Statute of Former Presidents and Vice-Presidents of the Republic.
This Diploma provides, among other rights, a lifetime monthly subsidy corresponding to the base salary of the President and Vice-President of the Republic in office and cumulative with the retirement pension to which they are entitled, personal doctor, health insurance, extended to spouse and children. minors, incapacitated or ascendants and family housing assigned by the State and support staff.

The Plenary Meeting on the 14th is also expected to discuss and vote on the Draft Resolution that changes the name of the 10th Specialized Work Commission of the National Assembly, as well as discuss and vote, in general, on the Draft Law that changes the Organic Law of Courts of Appeal.
For internal issues, legislators will consider the Proposal for Expenditure for the National Assembly Budget, referring to the financial year 2024, as well as the Draft Resolution approving the Report and Summary of the activities carried out by the AN during the 2022 parliamentary year -2023.
