Africa-Press – Angola. The deputy governor for the Political, Social and Economic sector of Uíge, Sónia Arlete, highlighted yesterday, International Women’s Day, the important role played by women in the National Liberation Struggle.

Speaking at the provincial act of International Women’s Day, celebrated this Wednesday, Sónia Arlete highlighted the courage of several women for the consolidation of peace, national reconciliation and unity among Angolans.

He said that women also participate in the country’s socio-economic development actions.

For this reason, she appealed to society to continue to consider the 8th of March as a moment of reflection and unity among women, aiming at the social development of the country.

Sónia Arlete appealed to women to carry out activities that deal with the fight against domestic violence and other evils that plague society.

In turn, the director of the Social Action, Family and Gender Equality Office of Uíge, Linda Fernando Felipe, reaffirmed the focus on training women in various areas of knowledge, a measure that aims to reduce gender inequalities.

At the meeting, the participants discussed technological education in the digital age for women, insertion of women in technological areas and access to digital education.

The Municipal Administration of Uíge also carried out, in Senga village, an act of celebration on the 8th of March, International Women’s Day.

Instituted by the United Nations in the 1970s, International Women’s Day contains a symbolism that the History of Humanity will never forget, as the initial meaning of its struggle, marked by protests for better working conditions.
