The kings of the municipalities of Mavinga, Rivungo, Dirico, Calai and Cuangar, in Cuando Cubango, defend, for the socio-economic development of the province, the urgent recovery of access roads and, in this way, provide governance of proximity and well-being of the population.

Speaking to the press this Friday, at the headquarters of Cuangar, at the end of a 10-day field trip in the respective municipalities, José Martins said that, in the meetings held with sovereigns, civil society and businesspeople, the fundamental emphasis of All interventions are the construction of the main roads that provide access to the interior of Cuando Cubango.

“They even went so far as to say that the Government should stop building more schools and health posts, but that it should focus its main attention on building roads, because the population understands that with good circulation, all services will be closer to the local communities”, signaled the government official.

José Martins said he had conveyed the Executive’s position in this direction, as actions to this effect are already underway, since the demining process in the Cuito Cuanavale/Mavinga section, on national road 280, in which more than 52 kilometers were demined, work started in November 2023, for the construction of the section.

According to him, it was possible to convey, during the meetings, that, by Presidential Order, he wants the national road 280, Cuito Cuanavale/Mavinga and Mavinga/Rivungo, the EN 295 Dirico/Mucusso/Licua/Luengue to Mavinga, as well as the EN 170 which connects Mucusso to Bico de Angola, all are already authorized for construction.

“ Just like the national road 140, in the Caiundo/Balatchau/Savate section up to the municipality of Cuangar, the technical and administrative work is only being improved, to allow subsequent actions to take place, to see the circulation situation resolved, providing answers to the needs of the population and the Political – Administrative Division”, he informed.

He highlighted that, with the emergence of the Political – Administrative Division, it will be necessary to build new cities and many social facilities, and it is therefore imperative that the road situation be resolved, along with the implementation of tourism in Cuando Cubango, through the project Okavango-Zambezi Transfrontier Conservation Project.

On the other hand, the politician said he had been successful in the political agenda of compliance with the Central Committee, which indicates the need for MPLA leaders to go down to the grassroots in the communities for direct interaction with the populations, making it possible to evaluate government activity, through the implementation of different programs aimed at improving the living conditions of citizens.

Likewise, the politician continued, he positively evaluated the process and preparation of the assemblies to renew the mandates of the party’s action committees and communal and municipal references, whose task began this month of May, with a positive outcome.

He highlighted the entry into the MPLA, during the party day, of 231 new militants, in mass events held in the municipalities of Mavinga, Rivungo and Cuangar, a very healthy growth for the party in power in Angola.

For the 1st secretary, the municipal and communal administrations visited and the physical execution of the projects are positive, from the Integrated Plan for Intervention in Municipalities (PIIM), the Program to Combat Poverty and the “Mamã Levanta” Program, whose direct impact on of the beneficiary population are notorious.

He reiterated the government’s commitment, together with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, to resolve the causes of the drought in Cuando Cubango, through the implementation of sustainable agriculture, having, on the occasion, announced the receipt of more than 115 thousand vaccines for livestock immunization cattle and goats at provincial level.
