Africa-Press – Angola. The Muthongo diamond cooperative delivered today, Monday, various goods to families residing in the villages of Cassanji-Cambangu, Muacandala and Samuquixi, in the municipality of Cacolo (Lunda Sul), as part of its social responsibility.
These are three-wheel motorcycles, fans, refrigerators, generators and zinc sheets, in an act witnessed by the municipal administrator of Cacolo, José Chicanji.
On the occasion, the person in charge of the diamond cooperative, Tozé Salfuma, said that the gesture will cover more families, in addition to the idea of building schools and health centers for the communities.
He added that the company, inaugurated this month, employs 35 young people, and as the project expands, more jobs will be made available to the youth.
For his part, the municipal administrator of Cacolo, José Chicanji, praised the initiative of the mining company, as, despite being recent, it already shows signs of intending to align itself with the Government’s efforts to improve the social conditions of families.
He urged the other companies and diamond mining cooperatives in the area to follow his example.
The authorities of the municipality of Cacolo control eight diamond extraction cooperatives, employing more than 100 people, including machine operators and administrative staff.
The municipality of Cacolo is 141 kilometers from the capital city of Saurimo, has an estimated population of 36 thousand 185 inhabitants, distributed in the communes of Alto Chicapa, Cucumbi and the capital.
