Africa-Press – Angola. Angola intends to attract more investment from companies specializing in the business of cutting and cutting diamonds based in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), so that they can set up factories in the Saurimo Diamond Development Pole (PDDS).

This objective can be achieved with the holding of the “Investment Forum for the Diamond Development Pole of Saurimo – DUBAI 2022”, to be held on February 22 this year by SODIAM, in the United Arab Emirates.

Also to make investors aware of the reality of the facilities, benefits and tax incentives of the free zone, which will become the Saurimo Diamond Development Pole, in order to make known the experience of making raw diamonds produced in the country available, destined for factories cutting machines installed in Angola.

The forum also aims to take advantage of the revolving platform that is Dubai, to communicate and present the opportunities generated by the Saurimo Diamond Development Pole.

The in-person event, to be promoted by SODIAM, with the support of the New Jeweler International Media Group, also aims to value the investment made in the construction of the PDDS infrastructure, and to fulfill the intention of the Government of Angola, in the short and medium term. , in increasing the cutting of rough diamonds produced in the country, from a total of nine million carats per year.

According to a press release from the Ministry of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas (Mirempet), up to 100 participants are expected to attend the event, by invitation and most of them investors in diamond evaluation, cutting and cutting.

It is also expected to bring together experts from the cut diamonds market cut diamond retailers; jewelers interested in the construction of jewelry factories, suppliers of parts and support equipment for the machines of the lapping factories, and maintenance service providers, interested in investing in the Pole. jewelry industry, taking advantage of Angola’s promotional spaces at Expo Dubai 2020, will combine interests of the Government of Angola and SODIAM, and will take place with the strategic partnership of the communication agency The New Jeweller.

The PDDS inaugurated by the President of the Republic of Angola, João Lourenço, in August 2021, currently houses three diamond cutting factories, a Training Center in Diamond Assessment and Cutting (Cefolad), as well as a professional training center for Endiama. The Mirempet document also mentions that the construction of three more cutting factories is under way.

The Pole offers investment opportunities and opens a new era for the dynamization and consolidation of the diamond cutting and polishing segment.
