Africa-Press – Angola. Four hundred and forty-one children received identity cards in three of the six municipalities in Zaire province last November, as part of a campaign to issue these documents free of charge, called “DIPANDA ID”.
As part of the celebrations of the 49th anniversary of National Independence, the “DIPANDA ID” campaign took place on Saturdays of that month.
According to Makika Inês Coimbra, a technician at the Mbanza Kongo Civil and Criminal Identification Department, 206 cards were issued in the municipality of Mbanza Kongo, 209 in Soyo and 26 documents in the town of Cuimba.
She explained that due to a lack of technicians, the municipalities of Tomboco and Nóqui did not issue the cards for the Dipanda campaign, while the Nzeto Civil and Criminal Identification Department had its computer equipment stolen before the process began.
The province of Zaire has an estimated population of more than 600,000 inhabitants, distributed across the municipalities of Mbanza Kongo, Soyo, Nzeto, Cuimba, Tomboco and Nóqui.
