Africa-Press – Angola. The state of bilateral cooperation between the Republic of Angola and the Kingdom of Morocco was, this Wednesday, at the center of the meeting between the ambassador of the two countries, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and the Permanent Representative to the African Union (AU ) and from UNECA, Miguel Bembe, and his Moroccan counterpart, Nezha Alaoui M`Hammdi.

According to a note from the Diplomatic Representation during the meeting the two interlocutors recognized that bilateral relations in the political-diplomatic domain are excellent and envisaged an increase in the economic-commercial aspect.

The meeting also served to address issues of common interest within the AU, with both diplomats reflecting on issues linked to food and maritime security and the cultural dimension of development.

Likewise, they reviewed the reform process and the main challenges of the continental organization, such as promoting unity, solidarity and cohesion, as well as cooperation between the countries and peoples of Africa.

They concluded that the African Union Commission (AUC) needs strong leadership and must adopt a new dynamic, capable of guaranteeing the unity of the continental organization and responding to its major projects and challenges, based on the principles that governed its foundation.

Ambassadors Miguel Bembe and Nezha M`Hammdi defended the acceleration of the implementation of Agenda 2063, called “The Africa we want”, a plan for the socio-economic development and transformation of the African continent over a period of 50 years (2013-2063), which comprises seven (7) aspirations, 20 objectives, 28 priority areas, 57 targets and 72 indicators.

Still at the meeting, they praised the 3rd Edition of the Pan-African Forum for the Culture of Peace and Non-Violence – Luanda Biennial, to be held on the 22nd, 23rd and 24th of this month, with the theme “Education, Culture of Peace and African Citizenship as Tools for the Sustainable Development of the Continent”.

Ambassador Miguel Bembe met with his Tanzanian counterpart, Innocent Shiyo, with whom he analyzed the major challenges facing the African Union and the functioning of its Commission.
