Africa-Press – Angola. The Angolan ambassador to France, Guilhermina Prata, highlighted the continuous efforts of Angolans to preserve and strengthen peace and national reconciliation.
The diplomat gathered this Saturday, in France, a diversity of diplomatic representatives, members of the diaspora, artists, among other entities, to celebrate Angola’s 22 years of peace and stability, marked on April 4th.
Guilhermina Prata urged those present to reflect daily on the importance of peace and to be proud of being part of a resilient nation in constant progress.
The ambassador emphasized the words of the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, about the achievements achieved in all spheres of Angolan society.
The event featured the showing of a video produced by TPA – Televisão Pública de Angola, highlighting the great achievements and advances achieved with peace.
It also featured the screening of the film by Angolan filmmaker Baptista João, entitled “Kizomba Without Borders”, which celebrates Kizomba dance and music, a cultural expression of national origin and deeply rooted in the Angolan identity that is gaining ground in other places.
The celebrations culminated in a moment of fraternization and networking, strengthening the bonds of friendship and cooperation between the participants.
Italy/Vatican
A mass of thanksgiving and a lecture on “the meaning and importance of the 4th of April marked, in Italy and the Vatican, the high point of the peace day celebrations in Angola.
Speaking at the event, Angola’s ambassador to the Holy See, Carlos Fonseca, recalled that this date ended 27 years of armed conflict in the country and paved the way for an understanding between brothers, which is allowing the development of Angolan territory.
Carlos Fonseca also recalled that the reconciled Angolans are building, with a patriotic and inclusive spirit, a stable country that has achieved its place in the concert of nations.
Corroborating the idea, the Angolan ambassador to Italy, Fátima Jardim, recalled the sacrifices made by the Angolan people to achieve peace and the challenges that are being overcome for the country’s development, in the most diverse sectors.
The event brought together, in Rome, diplomats and members of the Angolan community living in Italy.
The day takes place from the 1st to the 25th of April, under the motto “4th of April together for the inclusive growth of the country”.
