Africa-Press – Angola. The Angolan ambassador to Cuba, Maria Cândida Teixeira, recently highlighted, in Havana, the Cuban capital, the progress made by Angolans in education, health, infrastructure and the energy sector, since 2002, as fundamental pillars for achieving of a prosperous future.
When speaking about the gains achieved by Angola in 22 years of peace, the diplomat said that the tranquility the country is experiencing provided the necessary basis for sustainable development, allowing the country to be reconstructed, revitalizing the economy and restoring dignity and well-being. -being of Angolans.
According to a press release this Sunday, Maria Teixeira was speaking to an audience of employees from the diplomatic mission in Cuba, former Cuban internationalist soldiers who fought in Angola and young students, highlighting the importance of Cuba in the process of transformation of the country.
“Cuban doctors, educators and engineers have worked side by side with their Angolan colleagues, sharing knowledge and experiences that have contributed significantly to our development efforts”, he acknowledged.
This partnership, he continued, is a testimony to the spirit of fraternity and cooperation that unites the two peoples.
He highlighted that April 4 marks the end of one of the longest and most tragic periods of the conflict in Angola, as well as the beginning of an era of hope, progress and unity for Angolans.
He also said that the anniversary symbolizes the resilience of the human spirit and the ability of Angolans to overcome adversity, in search of a common goal (peace).
The ceremony celebrating the Day of Peace and National Reconciliation, witnessed by the Secretary of State for Health for the Hospital Area, Leonardo Europa, served to reflect on themes such as ‘Role of the Battle of Cuito Cuanavale for the Liberation of Southern Africa’ and ‘ The contribution of the Angolan Armed Forces in consolidating peace and development in Angola’.
These topics were lectured by the former commander of troops in the Battle of Cuito Cuanavale and the director of the National Air Force Academy, lieutenant generals Fernando Amândio Mateus and João de Oliveira Borges, respectively.
