Africa-Press – Angola. the ambassadors of Angola and Portugal to Namibia, Jovelina Imperial and Rui Carmo, respectively, analyzed, on Wednesday, in Windhoek, the cooperation between the two countries, during a courtesy meeting.
According to a press releas, at the time the diplomats shared the idea that the two states have a long history of friendship and partnership between the two peoples, which must be increasingly reinforced.
At the meeting, issues linked to cooperation relations between Angola and Portugal were analyzed, highlighting the long history of friendship and partnership, with the two diplomats reaffirming their mutual commitment to further strengthening these ties, exploring new opportunities for collaboration in various areas.
Taking into account that next week, Portugal celebrates the 50th anniversary of the 25th of April, known as Freedom Day, the occasion also served for the two ambassadors to address the importance of the date and its meaning for the people of Angola and Portugal.
Jovelina Imperial and Rui Carmo also spoke about the 5th of May, Portuguese Language and CPLP Day, as an important date to exalt, celebrate and promote the cultural and linguistic richness shared by Portuguese-speaking countries.
It was in March 1976 that Angola and Portugal established diplomatic relations, following the declaration of Angola’s independence on 11 November 1975.
Since 1978, the two countries have signed the General Cooperation Agreement, intensifying bilateral relations with the signing of several other cooperation agreements in different areas.
Angola is one of Portugal’s main trading partners.
