The Government has taken legislative measures aimed at reducing social, economic and cultural inequalities, in a context of non-discrimination and full participation of people with disabilities at all levels, said this Tuesday, in Luanda, the Secretary of State for the Family. and Promotion of Women.

Elsa Barber, who was speaking during the opening of the Luanda provincial meeting on accessibility and school inclusion, highlighted that the State had approved a set of laws and policies, including the policy for people with disabilities, the strategy for the protection of people with disabilities, as well as procedures for their hiring.

“Social inclusion is fundamental for the guarantee and full exercise of the fundamental rights and freedoms of people with disabilities”, he said.

He defended the need to eliminate existing barriers, whether in the work, school or family environment. For the Secretary of State, the meeting, with the participation of social actors directly involved in the issue and representatives of associations and people with disabilities, is a means to seek to respond and strategic solutions, with a view to reducing vulnerability.

“It is hoped that, in the end, there will be greater mastery of the accessibility laws and a review of their implementation at the level of schools and licensing processes for future public works projects”, he said.

The Undersecretary for Persons with Disabilities of the National Council for Social Action (CNAS), Elisabeth Neto, highlighted that the meeting, held in partnership with the National Directorate for the Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities of the Ministry of Social Action, Family and Women (MASFAMU), appears within the scope of the campaign on accessibility, launched on the 10th of the current month, under the motto “Accessibility as a factor of school inclusion”.

According to Elisabeth Neto, the objective is to contribute to the definition of a set of measures and actions to be developed to improve accessibility at the level of schools, as well as to draw the attention of the intervening actors to the need to implement the Accessibility Law in the municipalities. and sensitization of families in communities.
