Dispersion of inhabitants makes social life difficult - Administrator of Quiçama

Africa-Press – Angola. The dispersion of the inhabitants of the Municipality of Quiçama is one of the factors that makes it difficult to solve their social problems, said the local administrator, Elisabeth Rafael.

In an interview with the press, the manager said that the municipality has several dispersed neighborhoods with few residents and in almost inaccessible places, which makes it difficult to have social infrastructures.

These localities lack almost everything, such as schools, hospitals, energy, water, roads, among other basic social services.

“The problem in our municipality is the deconcentration of the population. We have many communities and it becomes difficult to build schools and hospitals for small groups separated every seven to eight kilometers”, he said.

However, he added that there is an ongoing program to concentrate the population where they can benefit from all the social infrastructures.

The administrator expressed the desire to improve the quality of the houses made of wattle and daub, in order to offer greater comfort to residents.

In the five communes of the municipality, he continued, the main concerns are related to the poor state of communication routes, lack of water, energy and social infrastructures such as those for health and education.

For him, the priority will be the improvement of the roads to facilitate the transport of means for the construction of properties.

“It has been raining a lot in this region, which makes any intervention difficult, so we are going to let the rain stop to start work”, he asserted.

Regarding the requalification of the village of Muxima, Elisabeth Rafael made it known that the government started with the construction of the first 300 T3 residences, out of a total of 700, in the village of Coxi, seven kilometers from the municipal headquarters, to accommodate the residents of the Catondo neighborhood .

By this time, all the masonry had been completed and most of the houses already had roofs.

Recently, the vice-governor for technical services and infrastructure, Mário Cristino Ndeitunga, said on the sidelines of the provincial governor’s two-day visit to Quiçama, that he had received guarantees from the contractor for the completion of these first homes in May of this year. .

The Municipality of Quissama has an estimated population of 45,262 inhabitants (2014 census), a territorial area of 12,046 square kilometers, thus being the least populous among the municipalities of the province of Luanda.

It is limited to the north by the municipalities of Viana and Icolo and Bengo, to the east by the municipalities of Cambambe (Province of Cuanza Norte), Libolo and Quibala (Province of Cuanza Sul), to the south by the municipalities of Quilenda and Porto Amboim (Cuanza Sul), and to the west by the Atlantic Ocean.

In addition to the commune of Muxima, it also comprises the communes of Demba Chio, Quixinge, Munbondo and Cabo Ledo. Part of the municipality is occupied by the Quissama National Park.
