Africa-Press – Angola. The construction and equipping of schools, daycare centers and children’s centers should be a priority within the framework of early childhood education, said the director of the National Children’s Institute (INAC), Paulo Kalesi.

Regarding International Children’s Day (1 June), marked, the official emphasized early childhood as a fundamental phase, taking into account that it contributes to the definition of a citizen’s personality.

For him, a person’s personality is shaped in the first five years of life and, therefore, there is a need to direct all actions towards shaping the child, with special attention.

He asked for greater monitoring of daycare centers and children’s centers in the country, despite the majority of them being private, as well as a training program for educators and child care guards.

He informed that his institution’s actions focus, above all, on advocacy so that administrators and governors put the construction of early childhood equipment on their agendas.

On the other hand, Paulo Kalesi emphasized that there are teaching programs for children, defined by the Ministries of Education and Social Action, Family and Promotion of Women.

In this sense, he recalled that the Ministry of Education has trained teachers and other agents involved in the child’s education process.

The director lamented the existence of children on the streets. “Unfortunately, we have cases of children who are victims of violence, involved in child labor and others abandoned on public roads.”

As part of the event, psychologist Paxi Pedro said that daycare centers play an essential role in the education of children, promoting their development in multiple aspects and offering support to families.

“The principle of daycare centers and community centers is to provide well-being and improve the psycho-emotional state of children”, he highlighted.

The psychologist called on educators to use assertive methods to facilitate children’s understanding and learning.

On June 1st, World Children’s Day is celebrated. The anniversary was marked for the first time in 1950, at the initiative of the United Nations, with the aim of drawing attention to the problems children face.
