In turn, the Secretary of State for Social Communication, Nuno Caldas Albino, highlighted, in the opening speech of the Conference, that the Executive will create conditions for the coverage and dissemination of the electoral process in the national territory, with the mission of informing, educate and promote the participation of all citizens in this citizenship commitment.
He stressed that the event is media-centric par excellence and requires careful preparation from the bodies, leading to positive, transparent, constructive coverage that enhances values and credibility, considering it the “highest point of society’s political and democratic exercise”.
“This seminar meets the challenges of Social Communication, as electoral processes require human capital capable of responding to the demand of concerns raised by voters and competing political parties”, he underlined.
The conference addressed “the role of the Social Communication in the electoral process in the view of the National Electoral Commission”, “ethics and professional deontology in electoral coverage”.
