Africa-Press – Angola. The Ministry of Territory Administration will give greater dynamics to the unofficial electoral registration process in Cuando Cubango province, starting on the 15th of this month, with the inclusion of air means for teams to arrive more quickly in areas further away from the capital Menongue. .

The information was released yesterday by the director of Registration and Administrative Modernization in Cuando Cubango, Nelson Armando, when he was assessing the progress of the unofficial electoral registration process. The operations will be supported with two helicopters of the National Air Force, which will act, in an articulated way, with mobile teams, in areas of difficult access.

Among the municipalities targeted by this operation, according to Angop, are Mavinga, Rivungo, Dirico, Calai, Cuangar and Nancova, which are now fully covered by the MAT teams.

Regarding the adhesion to the unofficial electoral registration process, the local authorities claim that it is going smoothly, with the exception of the aforementioned municipalities. The turnout to the BUAP (One-Stop Public Service Desks) is satisfactory.

The director of Registration and Administrative Modernization in Cuando Cubango, Nelson Armando, also mentioned that there is a need to include greater dynamics in the process, since the deadline ends on the 30th.

The teams are oriented to attend during weekends and holidays, as a way of reaching all citizens of electoral age, enabling them with documents to participate in the voting of the August elections. The dynamics includes, in addition to air resources, training of more operators to strengthen the registration brigades. In this particular case, the official appealed to political parties, youth associations and traditional authorities to encourage adherence to the unofficial electoral registration process.

The province of Cuando Cubango has 30 One-Stop Public Service Desks (BUAP) for this purpose and its operation is ensured by 90 operators.

In recent months, the authorities have been committed to reinforcing the activities of the brigades involved in public service operations, thus offering the possibility for the populations to carry out updates, process documents of particular importance, or even carry out the registration by the first time. The branches, in various parts of the country, have therefore observed great adherence, asking those responsible for adequate responses.

Community in Portugal with affluence in data services

The specialized services of the diplomatic mission attended, until last Saturday, 1,800 Angolans residing in Portugal, in the execution of operations related to the unofficial process of electoral registration, started in January, in the diaspora, through which the State offers the opportunity for national citizens actively participate in the upcoming general elections.

The Angolan ambassador to Portugal, Carlos Alberto Fonseca, provided the information to his fellow citizens, during a consultation meeting with members of the Angolan community in Sintra, Lisbon, where around six thousand Angolans are hosted, equivalent to 13 percent of the total of foreign citizens residing in Portugal.

The number of Angolans who attend the electoral register has increased, something in line with the guidelines, which provide for great adherence to the process, so that everyone can vote in the general elections, said the diplomat, before an audience that, in addition to the community and members of the embassy, was attended by Portuguese mayors of Agualva, Cacém and Mira Sintra.

Carlos Alberto Fonseca appealed for the participation of the Angolan community in the process that ends at the end of this month (March). On the occasion, he made it known that registration can be done daily, including Saturday and Sunday, as is the case at the Consulate General of Angola in Porto.

By way of particular information, the authorities recalled that, for the official electoral registration , the user must be an Angolan citizen, simply presenting the Identity Card (even if expired) or the voter’s card. In the same act, the Consul General of Angola in Lisbon, Vicência de Brito, asked fellow citizens to look for the consulate in order to find answers to the different concerns and needssities, and the processes are now attended to more quickly, with the entry of a more simplified system for processing official documents. Vicencia de Brito considered it important for the community to be more supportive, and for the different associations to assume their true role, in the sense of helping to identify the problems that afflict them, as well as participating in solutions for the benefit of the communities themselves.
