Africa-Press – Angola. The elevation of the Xassengue commune to the rank of municipality will provide greater development, due to financial independence and deconcentration of the most varied administrative services, said this Thursday, in Lunda Sul province, administrator Domingos Manuel.
According to the official, who administers the Xassengue commune, in the municipality of Cacolo, Lunda Sul province, the elevation of the category will allow the construction of residences, schools, hospitals, markets and the improvement of the supply of water and electricity.
Speaking to press about the possibility of elevating communes and districts to the category of municipality, whose proposal for administrative political division is under analysis by the Executive, the official also pointed out as an advantage the possibility of upgrading the roads.
For him, the elevation will also create dignified conditions and attract private investors.
He praised the Executive’s initiative which, if materialised, will also allow for greater revenue collection locally, due to the diamond sectors, water resources, forests and agriculture.
Regarding the Xassengue commune, the administrator informed that, in the last five years, a lot has been done, giving the construction of schools as an example.
The commune of Xassengue has two thousand 897 inhabitants, distributed in seven villages.
