Employment rate rises 2.0% in I Quarter

Africa-Press – Angola. The employment rate in Angola increased by 2.0 percent in the first quarter of this year, according to data from the National Statistics Institute (INE).

Data from the quarterly survey also reveal that, in the same period, there was a 6.5 percent decline in the unemployment rate among the population aged 15 or over.

This same downward trend was also observed in the informality rate, which fell by 0.2 percent.

The survey by the National Statistics Institute took into account a sample of 10,944 households across the country, of which 6,036 in urban areas and 4,908 in rural areas. In this way, the INE indicates, the unemployed population, estimated at 5.3 million at the end of 2021, has now risen to 4.9 million.

Measures Rresult
The measures that have been taken by the Government to protect employment, despite the adverse environment generated by Covid-19, are having an effect, with a recent record of more than 460,000 jobs created over the last four years.

The Action Plan for the Promotion of Employability alone (PAPE), coordinated by the Ministry of Public Administration, Labor and Social Security (MAPTSS), in 2021, guaranteed more than 83 thousand direct jobs and another 250 thousand indirect ones. Data also indicate that in the first three months of this year more than seven thousand jobs were created, maintaining the Government’s initial perspectives of reaching a figure of 500 thousand jobs generated in the national economy.

Regarding PAPE, this initiative should provide, in its global implementation, 10 thousand micro-credits granted, 42 thousand professional kits distributed, 30 thousand young people inserted in the formal market and 1,500 trained in level 3 and 4 of professional training, within the scope of internship agreements professionals.
