Africa-Press – Angola. The National Electricity Distribution Company (ENDE) expects to mobilize, within two to three months, financial resources to carry out projects related to the expansion of the low and medium voltage network throughout the country.

The Chairman of ENDE’s Board of Directors, Helder Adão, who is in Benguela as part of the company’s Extended Board of Directors, told the press that the electrification rate in the country is 43 percent.

“It is still very low, but we have prospects of carrying out many actions to change the situation”, stated the PCA.

He explained that at the moment the company is consolidating administrative aspects, defining the scopes to prioritize.

On the provinces best served in terms of electricity, Helder Adão pointed out those that are connected to the national transport system.

For others, such as those in the east, the rehabilitation of the Luaximo dam, in Lunda Sul, is in perspective, which will increase supply in that area.

“We are going to build photovoltaic plants in those provinces, where we have the largest number of thermal plants,” he informed.

According to him, photovoltaic plants will considerably increase supply capacity. Thermal power plants, on the other hand, cause a lot of wear and tear because they are rotating machines and have many breakdowns.

Asked about the illegal connections, known as “gatos”, he said that they only exist because of the electricity deficit in those areas and the company’s management is aware of the fact.

Regarding customer debt, although he did not refer to amounts, he confirmed that it is still high, both for individuals and in the corporate segment.

“ENDE has been negotiating to give customers an opportunity and also to be closer to them”, he assured.

The province of Benguela was chosen by the company to host, for two days, its VI Extended Board of Directors, starting on Thursday (02).

During the event, an analysis will be made of the objectives achieved, those that remain pending and strategies will be drawn up for the realization of new projects, according to the PCA.
