Africa-Press – Angola. The Minister of Energy and Water, João Baptista Borges, inaugurated this Thursday, in the municipality of Golungo Alto, 57 kilometers from Ndalatando, capital of Cuanza Norte, an electrical energy substation with a capacity of 32 megawatts (MW ).

The infrastructure includes a 60 kilowatt (Kv) transmission line, connected to the Ndalatando substation, with an installed power of 40 MVA and an available power of 32 MW and several medium voltage cells.

The referred substation will reinforce the energy supply to the municipalities of Golungo Alto and Ngonguembo, which already benefit from this service, as well as the municipality of Canhoca, in the municipality of Cazengo, which should benefit a universe of three thousand families.

Speaking to the press, the minister said that the infrastructure is part of the Executive’s strategies for expanding the electricity distribution system across the country, which provides for coverage of 50 percent of the country’s population by 2025.

For the construction of the enterprise, in the municipal seat of Golungo Alto, 88 million euros were invested.

With this project, Cuanza Norte becomes the second province in the country, after Luanda, with all municipal headquarters electrified.

The province currently benefits from the supply of electricity from the Cambambe, Capanda and Laúca dams, ensured by four substations that supply the 10 municipalities uninterruptedly.
