Africa-Press – Angola. I became aware of a communication made by comrade Higino Carneiro, addressed to all militants, in a particular way, but in general addressed to the entire nation, announcing his intention to run in 2026 for the highest position in our organization MPLA.
I received this communication with immense joy, with great satisfaction, because it is an initiative that strengthens our process of internal democratization of the MPLA with multiple candidacies.
I am also very pleased to know that finally in 2026 we will have several candidates and that this is a sign of strengthening, of the growth of our organization, because multiple candidacies are in fact the right path for our internal decisions to be of increasingly higher quality, so that our deliberations and our internal decisions can have a more collegial, less authoritarian and more democratic character.
And so, it is indeed an initiative that has come at the right time; we need to prepare ourselves to present our candidacy in 2026, with all the requirements already met. And so, to comrade Higino Carneiro, my congratulations and I hope that in 2026 we can all celebrate democracy together, the new democratic values that we have not seen practiced within our organization for over 50 years.
I would also like to wish all activists a greater commitment so that we can all participate in this great celebration of democracy, with multiple candidacies, choosing the one who will be our preference for the leadership of our party, the MPLA.
