Africa-Press – Angola. Entrepreneurs and youth organizations in the province of Huambo were informed, this Friday, about the guarantees for taxpayers in the Angolan legal system, with the aim of encouraging tax culture among citizens.
The event, held at the Mediateca do Huambo, in an initiative of the finalists of the degree course in Fiscal and Tax Law at the Instituto Superior Politécnico Católico (ISPOC) of Huambo, aimed to alert taxpayers about tax compensations, reduction of fines and refunds.
On the occasion, Domingos Bingo Bingo, a member of the organization, warned taxpayers to, whenever necessary, recover their taxes paid to the State, when paid in excess or improperly, through duly established legal mechanisms.
He said that the Angolan State has opted to compensate taxpayers whenever such a credit situation occurs, as long as it is duly recognized by the General Tax Administration (AGT) or by the Public Debt Management Unit (UGD), upon a written request from the citizen. .
He considered paying taxes to be important, as it is one of the main ways for the State to raise resources to develop public policies and carry out social and economic investments.
With taxes, he recalled, technical and technological infrastructures and human resources will be improved, the inspection system will be improved, as well as paying better attention to taxpayers, as a way of respecting their guarantees.
Therefore, he asked local entrepreneurs to pay taxes spontaneously or voluntarily, so that, in the event of infractions, their tax fines are always reduced, which can be up to 50 percent.
He called for a greater legal culture among taxpayers, especially in matters of tax law, to avoid tax evasion and incurring illegality, which is subject to various fines.
