Africa-Press – Angola. The minister of Social Action, Family and Women’s Promotion, Ana do Sacramento Neto, highlighted, this Friday, the commitment of the Angolan Executive in a society of technological innovation, accompanying the development in the area of ​​new technologies.

The official, who was speaking at the plenary session of the 67th session of the Commission on the Status of Women, taking place in New York, referred that Angola will invest in technologies related to digital television, virtual school and the Angolan satellite.

He said, on the occasion, that the bet also translates into the implementation of projects for the rehabilitation of telecommunications infrastructures, rural communications, Angola Online and technologies, to guarantee the creation of a safe digital environment.

“Within the scope of the innovation and technological change plan, the Angolan Government implemented the program to promote innovation and technology transfer that includes start-up innovation projects”, he said.

The minister also highlighted the incubation program and the creation of business incubators in some higher education institutions, involving the participation of women.

Ana do Sacramento Neto added that the Angolan satellite, called ANGOSAT-2, whose operationalization has the participation of women, has been generating excellent opportunities in space matters.

According to the minister, Angola has 16 women trained in space specialties and who work in the National Space Program Management Office.

He clarified that in the Higher Education subsystem and the development of scientific research, programs and projects have been implemented to promote gender equity and women’s empowerment.

As a result, he highlighted that the access of women and girls to new information technologies and digital education has increased in terms of Engineering and Computer Science courses.

“Our Government has been looking at the women and girls who live in rural areas with concern, because they do not keep up with social dynamics at the same pace as those in urban areas”, he clarified.

According to Ana do Sacramento Neto, the country is committed to the prevention, promotion and protection of Human Rights, especially of the most vulnerable groups of the population in which women are inserted, and is constantly testing new ways of acting, for a participatory integration of the entire society in the development process.

He reaffirmed that the promotion and protection of women’s human rights and gender equality have been developed, in close partnership and collaboration with civil society, namely churches and non-governmental organizations.
