Africa-Press – Angola. The visual artist Sandra Mendonça, new to the artistic world in the project “SVAM ARTES, is holding an exhibition of paintings on the visual arts, entitled “Nutriology”, on display at the Lubango Media Library. After the Lubango Media Library, the attendance recorded on the second day of the exhibition, in the Dr. António Agostinho Neto tourist area, was considerable due to the curiosity of the public.

In addition to people from various social backgrounds, there was also a notable presence of Chinese, Vietnamese, Eritreans, Portuguese, Brazilians, Namibians, South Africans and others who had been visiting various parts of the provinces, not only Huíla, but also Cunene, Namibe and Cubango.

A graduate in Nutrition and currently also involved in teaching, the young artist explained that the event is her first solo exhibition of visual arts, whose title marks a unique moment in her career of more than ten years dedicated to art.Visual artist Sandra Mendonça described the exhibition as being notable for uniting two traditionally separate areas, namely art and science. “It has not been easy to reconcile the two things, as each demands a lot from users given their complexity in various aspects,” she said.

With a background in Nutrition that she combines with teaching, Sandra Mendonça uses painting as a special medium to address themes related to facts of family and public life, with an emphasis on health, social interaction, landscapes, animal life, social well-being, attractive places and others. “This exhibition is part of one of the realization of dreams, but for various reasons it was not possible,” she explained, describing how such an event represents the intersection of passions. She also described how such intersections are related to science, education and art, which put human beings in permanent contact with nature, which, because it is beautiful and attractive, deserves special attention in terms of factors such as preservation, dignified treatment and the creation of conditions to serve future generations.

According to her, the pieces on display were designed with materials that are accessible to use, including wooden slats, fabrics, plaster and various paints, such as watercolour, gouache and acrylic, applied using water-dilution techniques. “The simplicity of the resources contrasts with the depth of the messages conveyed in the works,” she said.
