Africa-Press – Angola. The expansion of the electrical network and construction of energy substations constitute the gains of peace (achieved in 2002), in the province of Cuanza-Sul, said the provincial director of the Energy Distribution Company (ENDE), Domingos Bambi.
Regarding 22 years of peace in the country, to be celebrated on April 4, the director said that Cuanza Sul had great gains with the expansion of the electricity network in the municipalities of Sumbe, Amboim, Quibala, Libolo, Porto Amboim, Cela and Mussende, since before 2002 only four districts had energy from the Cambambe network.
The municipality of Libolo has a substation, with a capacity of 20 MVA, which benefits eight thousand 235 customers.
The municipality of Sumbe has a 30 MVA substation and distributes it to 32 thousand 129 customers.
Amboim, with two 20 KVA substations, benefits 14 thousand 141 customers and Porto Amboim, with a 20 MVA substation, has 11 thousand 453 customers, whose energy comes from the Cambambe dam, respectively.
The municipality of Cela has a 20 MVA substation, with seven thousand 289 customers, Quibala has a 20 MVA substation, with three thousand 513 customers, coming from Cambambe and Lauca.
The municipality of Mussende relies on the supply of energy from a thermal source (generator), with a capacity of 600 KVA, which supplies energy to 2 thousand 230 customers.
He mentioned that new electrical substations are supplying energy to populations, factories and farms.
Substations under construction
The assembly of a 10 MVA mini electrical substation in that location is underway in the commune of Gangula (Sumbe), which will benefit more than two thousand customers
He highlighted the fact that an electrical substation is under construction in the town of Ganja, municipality of Conda, with a capacity of 30 KV and 20 MVA, to be distributed in the municipalities of Conda and Seles, more than eight thousand inhabitants of the two municipalities.
The person responsible recognized that there is still a lot to be done in his sector, so that the 12 municipalities of Cuanza Sul can be interconnected in the national electricity grid.
This, he pointed out, involves making investments, but work is certainly being done to ensure that everyone obtains electricity.
ENDE is supplying electricity to a population of 80 thousand customers, of which 14 thousand and 50 are on the prepaid system and the rest are charged by meters, in the municipalities of Sumbe, Porto Amboim, Quibala, Libolo, Amboim, Cela and Mussende.
