Africa-Press – Angola. The Finance delegate in the province of Cuanza Norte, Érick Costa, defended, in Ndalatando, that municipal administrations should focus on the regularization of informal markets as a strategy to increase tax revenues.

When PRESS workers spoke this Friday, they highlighted that this strategy will reinforce the financial autonomy of municipalities, which will now have more conditions to improve the population’s quality of life, with their own resources.

The person in charge defended this point of view during a visit by workers from the local delegation of the to the institution, as part of the activities commemorating the 48th anniversary of this Social Communication company.

He also defended the focus on raising awareness among citizens about the voluntary payment of taxes and the formalization of income-generating activities, in order to contribute to increasing public revenue.

It characterized positively, in general, the indicators of the Integrated Municipal Intervention Program (PIIM) in the province, with a record of 80% of financial execution, against 100% of physical execution, despite the delays of some contractors in presenting the documents of measurement for validation by supervisory entities.

PRESS workers were also informed about the technical models adopted by the Finance Delegation for the approval, monitoring and inspection of tax executions, especially with regard to the management of funds from the Program to Combat Poverty and Local Development.

Érick Costa said that the actions of the Finance delegation in Cuanza Norte also included the ongoing training of managers and technicians from municipal administrations linked to the budget area.

The initiative workers also included a visit to the Ndalatando Tax Office, part of the General Tax Administration (AGT), where they were informed about the functioning of the institution in its revenue collection mission.

On site, they were informed that the province of Cuanza Norte currently controls three tax offices (Ndalatando, Dondo and Camabatela), and that it is part of the second tax region in the country, based in Malanje.

AGT in the province faces difficulties in expanding services to other municipalities due to the low volume of revenue in these regions, mostly with economic activities essentially based on informality.
