Africa-Press – Angola. A small explosion occurred in the kitchen of the General Hospital of Moxico (HGM) this Saturday, fomented panic and the dispersion of patients from the largest health unit in the province.
After the explosion, the patients left the hospitalization rooms, due to an alleged fire report.
Reacting to the matter, the administrative director of the unit, Domingas Sombo, clarified that it was an explosion, caused by an electrical problem in a grill, at the time when the patients’ meals were being prepared, denying the registration of an alleged unit fire.
The person in charge assured that after the panic, the operation of the unit returned to normal, with no record of any damage.
He added that this is the second event of its kind, promising a possible replacement of the material.
Moxico General Hospital is the province’s reference unit, with 200 beds and a technical staff of 14 doctors and 110 nurses.
