FAA pensioners gain new social security institute

Africa-Press – Angola. Pensioners of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA) have, since Thursday, been able to count on a new Social Security Institute, inaugurated in Luanda, by the Minister of National Defense and Veterans of the Nation, João Ernesto dos Santos.

On the occasion, the government official said that the infrastructure is designed to provide qualified retirement pension services in good conditions and give better dignity to pensioners who have done a lot for Angola.

“This new institute also appears to facilitate the insertion of officers and sergeants from the permanent staff of the Angolan Armed Forces into active economic life”, highlighted to the press, the Minister of National Defense and Veterans of the Nation.

João Ernesto dos Santos highlighted that the building was effectively requalified and equipped with the necessary resources, meeting all the legal requirements for the continuous payment of the retirement pension.

According to the minister, the Institute has an organic statute with greater scope in terms of administrative and financial autonomy in relation to the FAA Social Fund, which was the former name of the institution that supervised the reform of the military.

He highlighted that officers, from warrant officers up to the rank of Army general, after retirement, are automatically referred to the FAA’s ISS, as they are contributors during the mandatory military service phase.

The Minister of National Defense and Veterans of the Fatherland clarified that, in the meantime, non-permanent sergeants and soldiers are demobilized, after fulfilling their duty to serve the country.

“It is necessary to give dignity to our pensioners and their respective institutions, therefore, the works will not stop, because we are currently starting work to requalify the Naval Base of the Navy and the Defense Staff,” he said.

In turn, the director of the work, carried out by the company Belo Empreendimento, Tiago Marques, announced that the project lasted ten months and cost three thousand and six hundred million kwanzas. It is a three-story building with 670 offices.

“This building was requalified from the ground up, as we are talking about everything from sewage to electricity.

There was also a need to build ramps for the movement of wheelchair-bound pensioners and others with special needs”, he concludes.
