Africa-Press – Angola. A lecture on the theme “Importance of Family Farming for the Development of Communities and the Participation of Rural Women in the Cooperative” marked,Wednesday, in Lubango, the opening of the Rural Women’s Days that run until the 15th of this month .

The event was an initiative of the municipal administration of Lubango and also addressed the theme linked to the National Women’s Development Program for Rural Women, with the aim of encouraging peasant families, who represent 80 percent of the Angolan population, to join family farming .

Speaking at the opening, the deputy administrator for the political, social and economic sector of Lubango, Helga Chaves, highlighted that one of the main ways to encourage family farming is through public policies that stimulate rural development and provide subsidies to producing families, so that they have the means to improve their processes and optimize the delivery of their products.

According to her, the Executive is committed to a program that will support agricultural and non-agricultural activities carried out by family farmers, providing lines of credit suited to the needs of family farmers.

Government and traditional authorities, women journalists and rural women participated in the event.

For two weeks, lectures, round tables, visits to rural areas and various activities are planned with the participation of local authorities and women who live in rural areas.
