Africa-Press – Angola. The technical training on cooperative management and agricultural production, which for three days brought together 50 farmers from Viana, ended this Friday with the prospect of holding others linked to livestock and poultry farming.

The activity, organized by the Municipal Administration of Viana, in collaboration with the Institute for Agrarian Development and the NGO Acção para o Desenvolvimento Rural e Ambiente (ADRA), aimed to involve youth in the agricultural sector and minimize the unemployment rate.

The municipal director of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, Joana Pedro, said that the activity aimed to awaken youth interest in the agricultural sector, as well as contributing to job creation.

The official added that it was very satisfying to see young people interested in investing in the agriculture sector.

“In April this year, these trainees will receive equipment and plots of land to begin their activity and at the same time another training course in poultry and livestock farming will be carried out”, he said.

The president of the Sassa Kamoxe cooperative, Gildo Sassa, said he had acquired knowledge that will be applied in food production, as well as contributing to reducing poverty within the community.

According to him, young people are clamoring for financing to purchase equipment for food production.

The course included materials on the steps for creating an association and cooperatives, as well as managing community funds.
