Africa-Press – Angola. The Angolan Handball Federation (FAAND) will hold an international women’s handball tournament with the aim to celebrate the 50th anniversary of National Independence, which is scheduled to take place from the 17th to the 20th of the current month at the Kilamba Multipurpose Pavilion in the Province of Luanda.
The international event will feature the participation of the Angola national team, as well as the teams from Congo, Lithuania and Portugal.
Speaking on Tuesday in Luanda, FAAND Secretary-General, Onédio Silva explained that the matches will be held twice a day, with the first match starting at 4 PM and the second at 6 PM.
According to the source, for the competition, which will be played in a round-robin format, the foreign teams will arrive on the 16th, with a total of 16 athletes each.
Among other sporting events, the country has already held several sporting events to celebrate its 50th anniversary, including Afrobasket 2025, the São Silvestre Race, the African Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) Championship, the Fencing Championship, the Davis Cup Tennis Championship, the International Automobile Trophy, and the International Judo Tournament.
