Africa-Press – Angola. The new Angolan ambassador to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Fernando Miguel, presented the Letters of Credence to the Vietnamese President, Luong Cuong, during an official ceremony held at the Presidential Palace. The occasion marks a significant step in strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries, which this year celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties, made official on 12 November 1975.
During the courtesy audience that followed the ceremony, the Angolan diplomat conveyed President João Lourenço’s wishes for health, peace and continued progress to his Vietnamese counterpart and to the people of that Asian country.
The diplomat reaffirmed the Angolan Government’s desire to deepen the historic relations of friendship and solidarity, which date back to the visit of the late President António Agostinho Neto to Vietnam in 1971, at the height of the struggle for National Independence. Fernando Miguel also highlighted the need to strengthen cooperation in Health, Education and Agriculture, with the intention of expanding it to strategic sectors such as Tourism, Technologies, Renewable Energies, Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, Aquaculture, Infrastructure and Investment Attraction.The ambassador also emphasized the importance of promoting the Lobito Corridor Project as a crucial initiative to make Angola a strategic logistics hub in Southern Africa.
The diplomat also mentioned the importance of mobilizing external financing and public-private partnerships to ensure the efficient operation of the Corridor.
President Luong Cuong thanked the Angolan Head of State for his message and expressed his desire to deepen bilateral relations, recognizing Angola’s strategic role on the African continent.
