Africa-Press – Angola. The Center Nadir Manuel and Point Guard Angelina João are the big absentees from the National Senior Women’s Basketball Team, which is aiming for the African championship “Afrobasket2025”, taking place in Côte D’Ivoire from July 26 to August 3.
The fact was announced to the press on Tuesday (1), in Luanda, by the national coach, Paulo Macedo, when asked about the absence of the interclube players during the training sessions.
He explained that Nadir asked for leave for personal reasons, while Angelina left the country without informing.
The national team would have left for Madrid (Spain) on Monday (1), but due to some delegation member’s visa issues, the trip had to be postponed “indefinitely”.
The Angolans are in the competition’s group A, with Côte D’Ivoire and Egypt, and face the pharaohs on the 27th.
Angola is looking for its 3rd title, after winning in 2011, in Bamako (Mali) and in 2013, in Maputo (Mozambique).
