Africa-Press – Angola. The preparations are taking place at a time when a three-day period of mourning has been declared in honor of Pelé, considered the king of football, who died on Thursday, aged 82, from an illness.
By his own name Edson Arantes do Nascimento, the star who is being remembered for his achievements, shares the attention with the preparations for Lula da Silva’s inauguration ceremony.
Despite the death of Pelé, the attention surrounding the ceremony remains in a “frantic” movement in the perimeter of the Esplanada dos Ministérios, Palácio do Planalto and at Itamaraty (Ministry of Foreign Affairs).
The act will be able to count on the presence of 17 Heads of State, in addition to representatives of 120 countries.
A strong security scheme was set up in the central area of Brasília, within the framework of the presidential inauguration.
On the Esplanada dos Ministérios there is a record of strong control of people who circulate there,according to the local authorities.
The main roads will be closed and the headquarters of the three branches of government, at the Planalto Palace, the National Congress (Parliament) and the Federal Supreme Court (STF) will also undergo strong monitoring.
At the site, ANGOP was able to see a strong apparatus of the security force for the maintenance of order, preventing the recent records of violence that occurred after the publication of the results of the elections.
The structure where the event will take place has already been erected and decorated with the colors of the flag of the Federative Republic of Brazil.
According to the programme, the ceremony starts around 2 pm (6 pm in Angola) on Sunday, January 1, 2023, with the traditional car parade along the Esplanada.
Afterwards, President-elect Luís Inácio Lula da Silva and vice-president-elect, Geraldo Alckmin, participate in a ceremony at the National Congress (Parliament) and leave for the Planalto Palace, where the President will receive the presidential sash.
Another official moment, like others, will be the music festival with concerts by more than 20 guest artists.
A gastronomic fair will also be on display at the venue.
For the ceremony, the presence of about 300 thousand people is expected, representing several states of Brazil, in addition to the guests.
