Africa-Press – Angola. The FNLA and PRS parties said Tuesday (14) that they will take office tomorrow, in the V Legislature, in the National Assembly, to defend the interests of the Angolan people, despite the few seats won in the General Elections of 24 August.
Benedito Daniel, president of the PRS, told the press, before carrying out the process of welcoming and initiating deputies, that the consequences were analyzed and the situations considered, so it was concluded that a seat was taken, having exhausted the necessary resources at the level of the Commission. Electoral Court (CNE) and the Constitutional Court (TC).
He said that the decisions of the TC are “unappealable”. He explained that all the possibilities used to obtain a positive response were exhausted, and therefore, only the inauguration was left.
The PRS had the same procedure in 2012 and 2017. Its deputies ended up taking office late.
For this Legislature, the PRS leader said that he will work to change the current situation, in a strategy that involves the inspection of all actions of the future Executive.
As for the other opposition parties that did not appear for the process of welcoming and initiating deputies, Benedito Daniel replied that each political force decides for itself. “This decision was ours, our Social Renewal Party’s and it is up to each party to decide what is best for its organization”, he reinforced.
Despite not recognizing the result of the August 24 General Elections, Nimi a Simbi, leader of the FNLA, said that he will take office in this legislature and will support everything that is good for the Angolan people.
“Everything that benefits Angolans, no matter who the proposal is, we will give our support. But the proposals that we see that will not support the Angolans will not have our support”, he underlined.
For this fifth Legislature, he said that the FNLA will work sharply to improve the party’s situation: “We cannot say whether the results presented by the CNE are fair or not, nor can we reject the documents so as not to look ridiculous. old and we have to take the necessary position”.
He regretted the fact that his party had not managed to create a scrutiny center and to have all the minutes in possession, which conditioned the comparison of the results presented by the National Electoral Commission (CNE).
