Africa-Press – Angola. The provincial secretary of the FNLA in Uíge, Almeida Vungo, praised today, Wednesday, the determination of former combatants and veterans of the motherland in the struggle for national liberation, culminating in the conquest of Angola’s independence in November 1975.
During the approach to the celebration of the 62 years of the national liberation struggle, Almeida Vungo referred that the former combatants and veterans of the country had the objective of making the Angolan citizen free, sovereign and responsible for his own destiny.
For that reason, the politician said that the FNLA will continue to defend the improvement of the social conditions of former combatants, fight against corruption, misery, poverty and other evils.
He added that his party sees peace as a fundamental element for the development of a healthy society free from social injustice.
Regarding the dates of the national liberation struggle, Almeida Vungo understands that March 15, 1961 was the day of the expansion of the liberation struggle in Angola, preceding other historical dates.
He informed that 1,743 former FNLA soldiers receive their subsidies at the Provincial Office of Former Combatants and Veterans of the Homeland.
